The property, a former cow shed, dates back over 100 years. It was converted to a house in 1998 and we bought it in 2003, refurbishing the interior to a high standard to include central heating and double glazing. In 2013 we went mad and refurbished it to an even higher standard and again in 2017. The details make all the difference and Tredougann has lots of interesting and original art. High quality linen and towels are included in your rental. It has upside-down accommodation to benefit from superb sea and estuary views.
Please Note: Our 2014 5-star Gold rating is based on 8 guests in proper beds (2 king size and 4 singles in 3 rooms) plus a baby in a travel cot. However, we have a good quality sofa bed in the sitting room which can be used to make the accommodation more flexible - separating teenage boys from teenage girls, for example. This works because the Kitchen/Family Room functions so well as a living room - plus anyone on the sofa bed gets a huge TV with Sky Movies and Sport!. If you bring any more than 8 guests, we can’t guarantee that everyone will be able to sit in the same living room or have matching plates and glasses.

The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and a great view over the garden (and the sea if the neighbour has cut his hedge!). Both it and the 2nd bedroom have King Size beds. The 3rd bedroom is perfect for the kids with a set of four clever 3' single beds. There are 2 fixed beds each with a separate full size and full height 3' bed stored beneath which wheel out and stand up when needed. There's also a travel cot (bring your own bedding for this). All 3 bedrooms have Freeview digital TVs.
There's a large sitting room with really comfortable sofas that seat at least 8. One's a decent sofa bed giving extra flexibility (see "please note" above). Large opening bi-fold doors create an "indoor balcony" with a fantastic view over Padstow, the Camel estuary and the sea. There's a proper desk and chair plus(slow) broadband and Wi-Fi. There's a 48" HD TV, Sky Q with movies and sport, a Nintendo Wii and a Blu-Ray player.
The property has a family bathroom and an en-suite shower room. Both have heated slate floors, heated towel rails (perfect for drying wet clothes) and big mirrors. There is a combi-boiler providing endless hot water, ideal for getting the kids clean after a tyring day on the beach. There's even an outside hot shower.
The combined kitchen and family room has everything you would expect of a 5-star property. It has baking tins, garlic presses, chopping boards, a microwave etc but who cares when Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver's restaurants are so close? The utility room has a washer dryer and a cloakroom with WC. The table seats 8 and there's comfortable seating (including a Chaise Longue) in front of a big flat digital TV.
Tredougann's garden is small but beautiful. It is sheltered and comprises a lawn and deck with hot shower, an excellent 6-person table set with umbrella, a gas barbecue and a bike rack. The front garden has an attractive lawn plus a paved area with a bench where you can sit and watch the cars go by - about one every half hour on average! You can park up to 4 cars on the parking areas at both ends of the property. There's plenty of room for a visiting caravan or boat trailer.
That breathtaking view! The Atlantic in the distance, relentlessly breaking over the mysterious island. The infamous Doom Bar beyond the beach. Padstow town itself with the scurrying ferry and speed boats. Cyclists crossing the Black Bridge on the Camel Trail watching the waterskiers and wind surfers. Little Petherick Creek and Sea Mills - silent and still the path through the fields to the water’s edge.
Padstow and Rock have excellent sailing, top class golf courses and some of the best surfing in Northern Europe. Newquay is a few miles down the road, Tintagel and Port Isaac a few miles the other way. Mike loves boats. If you want to trailer your boat to Padstow, he will advise on getting a mooring for your stay.
It is now a legal requirement that we show you an Energy Performance Certificate for Tredougann in case it influences your decision to have a holiday there. Don’t worry – all bills are included and the combination of central heating, double glazing and thick walls makes the property snug and warm in winter
The property boasts 2000sq ft of centrally heated, double glazed accommodation. It is arranged over 2 floors with the sitting room and kitchen family room on the first floor to allow the former a magnificent view from its Juliet Balcony.
Tredougann is an upside-down house to get the views from the sitting room. This means that the living accommodation and kitchen is upstairs. As a result, we do not recommend booking Tredougann if you have mobility related disabilities. See our Accessibility Statement
